Secrets of the Second World War that scientists and historians still cannot explain

The Second World War is the fiercest in history. A lot has been written about it, but not all the mysteries have been solved. Some mysterious events gave rise to myths and urban legends. However, it is quite possible that they have a real background. We have collected the most curious riddles of this terrible historical period. Well, shall we begin?

The Battle for Los Angeles with aliens A few months after Pearl Harbor, another tragic event occurred, which has thousands of witnesses. On the night of February 24-25, 1942, glowing objects were noticed in the sky over Los Angeles.

Everyone decided that it was a Japanese attack, people hid in bomb shelters, and the city was plunged into darkness. The military fought a fierce battle for an hour, firing 1,400 shells into the air. However, not a single plane was shot down, not a single bomb was dropped, and several houses were damaged only by American shells.

The alarm was recognized as false, and no one explained the unidentified objects. So what was it? Some believe that these are weather balloons, others talk about military tests, and others are inclined to UFOs.

The gold is still in the ocean. Secrets of the I-52 submarine.

The Japanese submarine I-52 is perhaps the most famous submarine of the World War II era. However, she became famous for her death. In 1944, the submarine transported 146 gold bars in metal boxes to Germany. The boat was attacked by the Americans, after which it sank along with the crew.

Attempts to find valuable cargo have been made repeatedly. In the 1990s, gold prospector Paul Tidewell rented deep-sea vehicles and found the wreckage of a submarine resting peacefully on the ocean floor. He never managed to get inside, but a gold digger found boxes next to the submarine.

He assumed that because of the explosions, the ship was turned around and the precious cargo should be near the bottom. The boxes were lifted, but there was only opium. Then the team managed to get to the cargo hold, which was opened a few hours later. Ingots with a pleasant matte sheen fell out, but it turned out to be not gold, but tin. The gold digger is still sure that gold rests on the bottom of the ocean.

The head of the secret police of Germany became a spy in the USSR. Heinrich Muller is one of the most mysterious figures of National Socialism. The fact is that his death has not yet been proven. The head of the secret State police simply disappeared. German historians at first claimed that he was buried in a mass grave in a Jewish cemetery. However, later exhumation showed that the remains did not belong to Mueller.

Other assumptions were put forward. The Nazi figure fled to South America. Moreover, one man who looked like Heinrich was identified even by his wife, although later the identification was recognized as erroneous. There were also rumors that Muller was recruited by the NKVD. He fled to Moscow and died in 1948.

There is also an American version – the group of the Infuhrer, the SS, recruited the CIA. He lived in California, where he died in 1982. Unfortunately, both of these options have not been proven and we can only guess.

The disappearance of five planes. This incident is considered one of the most mysterious in the history of aviation. On December 5, 1945, five Avenger torpedo bombers codenamed "Flight-19" made a training flight. However, after a while all the planes disappeared from the radar. The search did not bring any results. Someone connects the disappearance with the error of the pilot who led the "Flight-19". Others claim that the bombers hit the Bermuda Triangle. They were officially recognized as disappeared 50 years later.

Hitler fled to South America. Until now, not all historians have agreed that Adolf Hitler committed suicide. Many Nazis fled to South America and started a new life there. So there is a theory that in the summer of 1945, several submarines surfaced off the coast of Argentina, among which was the Yu-530. It is believed that this was a secret convoy of the Fuhrer, who delivered the gold of the Third Reich to South America, as well as the dictator himself along with his entourage.

Unfortunately, no official ship logs and documents have been preserved. Isn't this a coincidence that makes you think even more? Rumor has it that not far from the place where Hitler came ashore, three submarines were found at a depth of 30 meters under the sand. However, there is not a word about this in the documents of the Argentine military. Who knows, maybe the Nazi leader started a new quiet life away from bombed-out Europe.
